Project "FOOLBUS"

Straight from the School of Hardknocks

Muscogee Co. Schools

The bus starts life as an unassuming retired school bus.

Lay it out

The frame notched and dropped, Dan welded a substructure before covering the floor with wood.

Drop the door

The door is supported by pegs, fold out ramp extentions will allow the car to be loaded.

Ready to unload

From the side, the gate door is the only evidence that anything is amiss with the bus.

Ramp'd Up

The car will load via a front mounted winch system and sit angled above the wheel well of the bus.

Shut it Up

The ramp door closes via a cable and winch system.

Gateway Door

The door will be skinned by sheetmetal, the bumper reaffixed, and the entire door painted upon reassembly.

Locked & Loaded

The door closes snuggly against the rear of the bus.

Keep Rollin'

The boys continue with the final stages of the bus.

First Test

With the bus finally ready, the guys load up JYD (Junk Yard Dog) into the JYB (Junk Yard Bus).

Up it goes

The winch pulls JYD in the door.

Perfect!

A mustang fits perfectly inside a school bus in case you were wondering...

A look from inside

How often do you see a car jacked up inside a school bus?

Hemi under glass??

Well, maybe not a hemi, but you get the picture.

Ready to roll...

So when JYD puts ya on the trailer... remember where THIS one came from!

Rear Door Latch

Dan fabricates the rear door locking system

Skin the Door

Putting the sheetmetal on the door.

Drilling Away

Dan drills through the substructure to attach the sheetmetal.

Almost done...

The guys continue to rivet the sheetmetal in place.

Need a lift?

The last few are tough to reach.

Done!

The rear door complete.

Crazy Redneck

The crazy redneck who built it!

The School of Hardknocks.... Class is in Session!

See the Foolbus debut at the RaceRock cruise, October 14th.
